What should be done to select the right colors for kitchen?
Coordination of a kitchen with the rest of the areas comes from continuity of colors, materials, and textures, starting with bigger objects. This is where the choice of cabinets and countertops is very important. They should match the style and tones in the adjacent area. When blending colors, also blend textures, and it is possible to mix and match to make it more interesting and intriguing looking.
Before starting any installation of equipment or countertops, complete the palette of paint colors, wallpapers, fabrics, carpet, tile, or any other flooring samples and wood chips – put them all together. If one color sticks out too much and doesn’t support the flow, get rid of that one and substitute with something more matching.
One important feature to remember – while trying to get a good flow of colors and select colors for kitchen, it’s not the best idea to pick the same colors or very close to each other. In this case, everything will blend. So the best idea is to create some contrast, for example, light countertops might go better with dark cabinets, or light color flooring might create better contrast with darker kitchen countertops.
But the main point, even though those colors are creating contrast, they should be from the same pallet of colors. For example, if the cabinets have sand/beige/yellow tones in them, then stay with earthy tones throughout the kitchen, or if the countertop is grey, then white/black/grey pallet of colors would be the best.
